2.05, "Simon Said"
My thoughts on the episode, behind cut for spoilers. Also, a little spoiler for 2.06, "No Exit."
So. In general, I thought this episode was so-so. Nothing wrong with it, but it wasn't amazing. Here are my thoughts:
-The scene where Sam's splashing his face in the nasty bathroom. Me: "Gross, Sam, whereare you?"
-Why is there a Blue Ridge bus line in Oklahoma? The Blue Ridge is part of the Appalachian mountain chain on the east coast.
-Jo: "Are you afraid of my mother?"
Dean "I think so."
-The scene in the impala where Sam and Dean discuss the Demon and his plan was gorgeously lit and staged. Did you see Jensen's eyes? Seriously.
-Sam's WTF face when Andy drives past in the impala.
-Dean: "...doesn't seem like the stone-cold killer type... And OJ was guilty!" I really heart pop culture references ^.^
-a) Dean: "This is magnificent, that's what this is."
b) Dean: "...and Moby Dick's bong...!"
Me to my roommate: "As if that weren't a phallic reference."
And his face, just after he delivers that line. Too effing funny ^.^
-Dean being mind-controlled: "Dean, shut up!" "I'm trying!" And then his facepalm. Hilarious.
-Dean, "I hate to kick you while you're freaked, but..."
-I really appreciate that the twins aren't identical. That would have been pretty hokey, yes? Literally having an evil twin?
-How did Webber know that Dean was 100 yards away, about to take him out with a rifle? What other abilities does he have? Does Sam have other abilities?
-Dean, "It's like being roofied, it doesn't count." There were at least 2 references to non-con sex in this episode. I wonder what the writers were going for...
-Finally, I hate to admit it, but I'm a little bit over the Demon arc. I just think it should be a little bit in the background for a while. I want to see some nice, easy problems that get wrapped up in one episode, like "Wendigo" or "Provenance." How about that chupacabra mentioned last week? Let's go kill that.
According to spoilerfix, next week Jo is going to tag along with the boys on a ghost hunt and get herself caught by a spirit who likes blondes. So it looks like they're going to have to come to the rescue. Great. If there's one thing this show DOESN'T need, it's a freaking damsel in distress. I hate Jo. I want her gone. Kripke, get rid of her! She's a waste of perfectly good brotherly-banter time.
