sepiastars: ([art] moonboat to dreamland)

Since I got some compliments on my coloring on my last icon post, I thought I'd make a quick coloring tutorial.  It's 100% selective coloring, so it's not translatable to PSP.

Step One:
Crop your original photo and resize to 100x100.  Our original photo is provided by paramore.org.

Step Two: From the Layer menu, select New Adjustment Layer, and then Selective Color.  Input the following values:
Reds:
     C: -100
     M: 0
     Y: +62
     B: +27
Yellows:
     C: -59
     M: 0
     Y: +100
     B: +50
Neutrals:
     C: 48
     M: 0
     Y: -11
     B: -7
Blacks:
     C: 0
     M: 0
     Y: 0
     B: 17

This is pretty cool, but I want to take it a step further and make it more vibrant.
Step Three: repeat step two with the following selective color values:
Reds:
     C: -100
     M: +15
     Y: +22
     B: 0
Yellows:
     C: -27
     M: -4
     Y: 8
     B: 0
Neutrals:
     C: -11
     M: -7
     Y: 0
     B: 0
Step Four: Now flatten your layers and save!

Too much work?  Already a selective coloring pro?  Download the psd file here.

I think the coolest part is how amazing it makes her skin look.  She looks a little more bronzed and it evened out her tone.  No pink spots!  I wish I could do this to photos of myself.

What would you be doing if I had never introduced you to live journal?

I'd probably be doing something productive and making something of my life. At least that's the theory ^.^
